View Full Version : ol' man and all, a vid pinning thought
Just wondering, couldn't we run a trace between the two pins on the CPU with something like rear window defroster repair stuff like the AMD boys use to connect the bridges on their CPU's?

sounds like a good idea, i like wrapping mine with fine wire in a figure 8 pattern to keep the chance at a minimum that it will come into contact with another pin but hey each his own, give it a try and let us know how it goes if its easier then wrapping pins i might give it a try.
Outhouse, man, love your avatar! ROFLMAO!

Now it's time for my innane question:
Does vidpinning have to be done on the CPU?
I notice on the bottom of a motherboard, there are solder leads that stick out underneath the CPU socket, coreesponding to the pin array on the CPU itself. Could you close these leads on the bottom of the board, or does this have to be done on the socket itself?

vid pinning is a voltage mod obviously which are done with the pins of the CPU so its on the cpu not anything else.
And the vid pins are located on the bottom of the cpu.. Sounds pretty risky but I don't know if it or not.

Good question, rat. I don't know the answer, but I'd guess that if it can be done that way, it's just done on the CPU instead since it's a hell of a lot easier than removing the motherboard. :)

Yeah I see no reason why you could not do that under the cpu socket but if you are going to do that might as well put jumpers on it so you don't have to cut the solder if you want to go back to normal. Dig? Others have done the rear defogger trick on the chip itself also. I think the wire trick in the hole works sweet. I am not going to mess with what works;)

Cool stuff. When I finally have a job again, and some expendable income, I'll buy a Celly and a cheap board, just to find out. I'm not really pushing it as a viable alternative; I just want to know for sure if it works....it's just one of those things I'd like to know..dig?

When I said jumpers above I meant dipswitches.
