Okay I bought a Vantec 6254D heatsink w/ delta 6800rpm I think its the black label one. But any wayz its hella loud. I first plugged it in and DAMN!!! A freak'n mini turbine was in my computer. What I want to know is what other fan can I use to give me the same performance *maybe a little bit lower in cfm* w/o the loud noise. I'm doing a celly 600 to 1ghz. So anything that will meet that requirement let me know. And if someone wants to trade for this delta let me know.

A few options for ya:

1) Volt mod your delta down from 12V. This will decrease performance a bit but if your temperatures are ok its worth it for your ears!

2) Sunon fans are pretty good as far as sound goes. You can check out their selection here: http://www.sunon.com.tw/ They run at about half the RPM speed as those deltas and can push 20CFM+

Another good brand is YS-Tech. A bit louder than Sunons but offer a larger selection if you want to get a higher performance fan >20CFM and still want to keep the noise down. Site addy is here: http://www.ystech.com.tw/

it uses a 60mm delta? you can buy 60 - 80 and 60 - 92 mm convertersso u can put a big fan on instead so it can run slower (and quieter)

Hi aznboi64,
the best way for me is to use your Delta38@7v with a very fast & simple mod: cut the Red(+) and Black(-) wires from the 3 pin Molex of fan, and link the Red(+) to the 12v and the Black(-) to the 5v of a 4 pin Molex, nothing else.

Note: In a Molex 4 pin (the classic connector for Hd's, Cd, DVD...) the yellow cable is the 12v, and the red 5v, the two blacks in the middle are the ground. Doing so, you'll lose the Rpm signal, coz it works only with a ground of 0v.

I hope it helps you ;)

The Doors,
Don't know if you helped aznboi64, but you just cleared up why my YSTech fan (molex) didn't seem to be pushing the air I thought it should. Moved the fan's red connector to the yellow molex lead...problem solved.

Thanks.

It's a pleasure Rick, you're welcome ;)
What was your fan voltage before this mod? 5v?

Exactly...The red fan lead was connected to the red power lead. The black to black.

I would use an 80mm fan instead of the 60mm fan I did this with a wbk. don't know if it is easy with teh vantec hs.

I recommend a fan adapter and get a Sunon 80mm that should push equal or more than the amount as of right now.

How much does the delta fan push in cfm? I have a sunon 80mm fan that pushes 35cfm, but I'm afraid its not enough.

It varies a popular delta which is a Delta 38 60mm which I believe you have.

Its a relabeled YS tech fan that is 6800rpm that pushes out 40cfm. So I think my sunon can be mounted with a fan adaptor. BUt I might go with a rheostat instead since I heard with this mod I only hear temp goes up 1-2 degrees. How about yours Tsunami? What temp did your degrees go up? What would you prefer a rheostat so I can adjust the delta fan or utilize a fan adaptor to use with my sunon?

go with the rheostat.

I didn't mod my Everflow 38cfm and around 40dba.

I'm use to it.

I would go with the rheostat since your Delta at the moment will do well and push great cfm while buying an adapter and sunon doesn't push as much cfm.

I am going to do the 7v mod, but out of curiousity I noticed like all fans my 80mm sunon fan with its 4pin molex has red and yellow. How do I know if my fan is utilizing the 12v and not the 5v?

Find the post where I said something about getting a fan adaptor and strapping on an 80mm Delta. Less noise, better performance.

Funnels really don't do much. Tempwise a 60mm delta and a 80mm delta with adaptor on a 60mm heatsink are about equal, and deltas aren't cheap either.
