Right now I have earthlink adsl (stop laughing). And now they offer a cable modem service, would it be better to go to the cable modem service? or just get cable thru my local provider even though i think its almost the same thing.

Research the services to see what their up/down speeds are and compare the prices. Only you can truly determine if its worth it.

I would also suggest to check who is their back bone service some time 10-20 provider have the same back bone.

Like last time many name brand ISP went out of business because their back bone go bankrupt.

Try checking out dslreports. They have posted results from all sorts of dsl and cable users. The zip code search helps to narrow down to users in your geographic location.

well i know for sure dsl isnt good in my area, i mean sure it has the whole broadband feel but it always drops off and it takes me one day just to get back on the net sometimes.
