I overclocked my 600 duron to 800 @ 1.7v. It runs fine under any applications, including 3dmark 2001. The problem is after the computer has been left on for more than half a day then rebooted, an error is given during the start up. I reformatted and upped the voltage to 1.8 but it does the same thing but a different error is given. Anyone what the problem is? I am running WinXP.

If you get an error after it has been running for a while, then I would susptect a cooling problem.
The power supply is a possble cause, although I am not sure why that would be affected by rebooting after running...

well on the PS side ..............each time ya reboot , that is the time when you havew the greatest draw of power from the PS ..................and with a 250 watt PS (that's the max power rated), ya might just be to lite on the power

i also have another computer that's a p3 600e running at 800mhz. it's at 1.65v...only .05v less than the duron. That computer has a cdrw, tv card, etc. and it boots up fine. The PS on that is 250W too. If it's the PS, should that computer have problems booting up too?

Power supplies differ. Also, you are comparing a celeron to a duron, the duron might be more sensitive to the power supply, in fact, I would bet it is.
can you elaborate on the "error that is given during startup"? i also run XP and i have just noticed that it will tell me "Windows has just recovered from a serious error" when I reboot, but i do not notice anything wrong and the machine and OS run fine. personally i think it is a WinXP bug. maybe it will go away or a patch will fix it, but i don't see any problems right now so i'm not worried about it.

it's not that kind of erroor.....it's bsod. can't give u specific cuz i didn't write them down. one had to do w/ not able to access/write to a certain registry. 2nd had to do w/ not being able to load hardware config or something like that.
i just lowered my duron to 750 @ default voltage. i'm gonna run 3dmark2001 all day today and reboot tomorrow to see if i still get a bsod. if i do, i'll post the specific error.

It could easily be the power issue, AMD Athlon/Duron CPUs draw much more power than the old P-กกก so, I would suggest u to try another PSU that is stronger, at least 300W if ur planing to upgrade to a T-Bird/AhlonXP get 400W and higher.
My athlon won't post at 1.85Vcore due to low power, my voltage is never stable, though I think that my old comps PSU is much better the Vcore never changes & is stable as a rock, upto 1.79Vcore all other voltages are stable but & 1.9 the 5V line fluncuates a little, and avg.s at 4.94V.
Try the duron w/ a better PSU, those 600s reached speeds of 1200MHz @ 2.33Vcore. but u could get it to around 1Gig w/ a good PSU & cooling.
Good luck.
Both the PSUs are 300W: 1. on main rig. is dunno the brand, guess its a generic, cause it sux so badly.
2. on secondary rig. its a GYRO PSU, prolly a noname also, but it served me w/ my K6-III for 2.5 years and continues to do a nice job for my Duron.
