I just took my 1.4 to 1567 ( 11x142 ) so it would fold a little faster. What I'm wondering is if using the folding as a stability test will work since it's using 100% of my cpu.

It may be safe to say that its proving that your CPU is stable, but probably not the rest of your system. If you were only overclocking by usage of the multipliers I'd probably say its enough but since you're raising the FSB you're also testing the ability of your PCI cards, RAM, etc to deal with the faster speeds.

Try doing other benchmarks like 3dMark2001, etc that test other components as well. Because you're only as good as you're weakest link...

I have Prime 95 that I could run and I have 3dmark also. Should I run both of them and if so how long should I run Prime 95?

Some people say that running folding, Prime95 and 3dmark2001 all at once is the *ultimate* stability test but I usually prefer to just do one at a time.

3-4 hours is usually sufficient for Prime95 since it makes very efficient use of your CPU but I'd probably leave 3dmark on overnight to be sure on the stability of your video card.

Although I use other programs to test stability I have had this chip pass torture tests etc and lock up on 3d2001 but have never had a chip pass 3d2001 looping and had it fail elsewhere.

Just the opposite in my case. 3DMark2001 loop with no problems & wouldn't run Prime95 Torture Test. Sandra Burn-In Test without problems, running the CPU & MultiMedia & Memory tests, in a loop is also a good way & if you really want to you can include the CDROM,Floppy & HDDs in the burn in. There is a program called Toast that is suppose to be one hell of a test but have not run it yet.

I've run toast and it will heat up the cpu. It definately will test out your cooling.
