Weird --- I dont know why nortons would have anything to do with sandra, I have run it on other boxes with xp with no probs.Did you disable auto protect on nortons when you tried running sandra?Just a guess.

this is why these forums rule - i did not even notice that the error was complaining about Norton's/Symantec. it must be due to the fact that i installed Norton's AntiVirus 2001 that came with my mobo, even though it said it had a compatibility issue with XP (yeah i'm stubborn). sure enough, it wouldn't work, and now it won't uninstall either. it must be that dang DLL that is causing the error. i'll get it fixed somehow. thanks for the reply Chief.:)

If it was AntiVirus 2001 or anything lower than that's the problem I think.

Because XP doesn't support anything lower than 2002....
Need at least 2002 Norton series to work with XP.

norton 2001 works fine with xp. you just need to download the update dll file installer from symantec. (windows will tell you the url if you search for norton antivirus 2001 in help and support).
i use antivirus 2001 and sandra, no probs with either.
