Screenshot @ 3GHz!
Memory at "safe" timings so potential errors from ram is taken out of the equation.

Now the setup :)
7900GT - no changes, but I wanted a good pic of the ramsinks I made.

The initial setup of the Q6600 system! Notice air in the water, and bare wires for testing LOL.

Done! Water is clear (no air) and the system is running a new XP install :)

Fans are on the lowest speed via rheostat and still keep the CPU cool. Load temp is 49C on the hottest core @ 3GHz 1.30v (1.25 drooped).
Build time, start to finish with various unexpected (yet somehow expected!) hangups - ~6 hours

So far I've disabled C1E and speedstep. Not sure if I want speedstep running on the overclocked rig. Does it matter? C1E may or may not, but I killed it for safety.
These are only the initial steps, haven't even begun yet really ;)
30C loaded at 3ghz... nice.

No that's idle, I had just killed the prime test. 48-49C load with fans nearly silent. I can blast them if I like, for real clocking ;)

I was about to say, lol. Those would've been some incredible temps. Good luck with the testing.

LOL yeah! And on a dual-fan rad to boot! :p
Oh and with a GPU block tied in too HAHA.

Yeah i'd disable C1E and Speedstep... only if you care about saving energy

Acid - 1.3v dang. you didnt say that! whoa. i would think 3.6 or 4 is deff do able 24/7

Haha chin did I forget that little detail? Oopsie :p
Yeah it's a beast, I just have to sit down and learn all the voltages and what the limits typically are....and then push those limits.
Edit: forgot to mention here, 3.33GHz now, vdroop at 1.270 and no prime errors.
I really need to do the vdroop mod. Ugh.

still, 3.3GHz on that low vcore. you don't wanna know what i'm running my e6600 @ to keep it stable at 3.8GHz. (it's a week 44 chip ~L644G388 - it's a voltage ****.)
*cough* 1.550v in bios. i'm not sure what my droop is though. CPUz reads 1.456 - so who knows. i love my 120e, my temps stay in check. i'm running some orthos action right now, after 27 mins it's sitting at about 51*C loaded both cores. not bad for AIR IMO.
i think i might buy a q6600. good god i need a new hobby
/edit - this is only like 35 mins, i left her run the other night all night error free - so i know she will do it - but it just sits at @ 56*C i love it.

Yeah great clock. :D

Those are low voltages. My Q6600 didn't need a who lot of volts until about 3.6GHz, at 3.42 I was 1.34 vcore though I didn't bother to find the lowest stable vcore at that clock. Sounds like you have a real clocker, good luck with it!

I have a great clocker it seems, but my ram and mobo hold me back ALOT. I had my cpu small FTT stable at 3.6 on about 1.4v, but the droop on my mobo and my funky ram seem to cause problems. I never could get it "blend" stable.

Found out my ram won't remain stable at stock timings - RMA time!
I bought the ram in august, but a friendly neighborhood newegg rep allowed me to do a FULL REFUND, which of course is awesome. Sometimes newegg's UPS contract ****es me off, but this makes up for it! And free shipping to boot! /newegg plug
Ok so with that out of the way, I'll be ordering new ram today. This:

Opinions? Does it matter? Same tech specs so I assume it doesn't. Ballistix sticks are probably better.
I'll get the ram here, swap out the sticks, and have the old ram sent back within the 2 week time frame for RMA :)

i like the first set, the yellow ones :)

Yep same, about to order them, if I can quit laughing at spirit.....damn LOL
Go check our quote thread chin, I got a headache from generating this much hilarity with sami and spirit the emo kid.

Acid, I have that ram (crucial ballistix), and it clocks very nicely. Haven't pushed it to extreme(450+FSB) but it has handled everything I've thrown at it without a hitch.
Dan
Edit: didn't notice you posted that 2 days ago, anyway, good choice

Thanks Dan. I got mine just 45 minutes before class, so I only had time to play a little. I left the machine at 800MHz 4-4-4-12 1T, which the previous ram wouldn't do even though it was advertised as that speed! So right before I left, I got the CPU to 3.2, which passed small FFT with no issues before, and then bumped the fsb to 400, set the ram to 800 (yep this failed for me on the other sticks, weird) and ran prime blend. It had already trippled the time it could run before when I left, so this may be the real deal now! If I can do 400 x 8, then I just need to bump the vcore a little and I'll be cruising at 3.6 :)
