I built a comp from some parts I had laying around the house for a while :P
I stuck an old 5.5 gb Maxtor in it, drives about 4 years old but never been used, So I made the partition and formatted the drive.
I rebooted and tried to run 98se setup
I tried it both in D: and E:
I would type "setup" and get an error..
CDR101: reading ready E: (or something like that)
About, Retry, Fail...
same when I typed "dir" to see what's on the disk
it was like it could see the drive but not what was on it, so I went into bios to see if it was seeing the drive looked ok so I exited bios, changed nothing, and all of a sudden it worked and asked me if I wanted to start the 98se setup, of course I click yes, but then it just said all the files on the cd were corrupt...
Could this be that the cd drive is going bad? or that it can't read burnt cd's cuz its so old? (It's a burnt copy of my 98se, cracked the old one when I got mad cuz my old HD was a pos) =(
It's a 4x CD drive from 95 :P
Was just wondering if it could be doing this cuz of a bad cd drive or something else?
thx
