I'm having problem trying to unlock my Athlon XP 1600+. I superglued the gaps and used conductive silver epoxy(from CrazyPC) to connect the bridges in L1. When I booted up, the CPU either shows up as a Athlon 1200MHz or AthlonXP 1444MHz(if i remember correctly). I got this on my first try so I did it again from scratch. I got the same thing. Could you help me out? Do you think is the silver epoxy(not being too conductive) or what am I doing wrong? Any tips! Thanks!

Current Setup:
Abit KR7A
AthlonXP 1600+@1.53GHz (10.5 x 145) 1.75v
Alpha PAL8045 w/Delta 68cfm
VisionTek Geforce3 Ti-200
Crucial 256 MB PC2100 DDR
20GB WD HD
Antec SX1040B 400w PS
Win2k Pro

For me I have used both super glue and white out.
White out was easier to use for me because you can see it vs. superglue is clear.

I have also used a needle and a toothpick to apply the unlocking materiel, for me the toothpick worked much better as the wood seems to be somewhat absorbent and the material doesn't blob as easily.

Try using a very small amount of material on a toothpick and push it into the bridge dots and let it dry 10 mins then go back with a very small amount and connect the dot's.

Let the stuff dry well before putting it back in the pc.

Goodluck.

This is how you unlock your XP properly. No glue, defoggers or pens needed.

It seems every 10th post is "How do I unlock my XP?" There is ONLY 1 way to do it easily and so that it is totally reversible. Don't hack up your CPU with glue and defogger kits, how damn barbaric! See the link below,

big ups to nikhsub1 for posting this....a really simple/effective solution. Even n00bs (/me points to left) can do it!
