Since noone else has replied, I'll take a shot.

I use generic ram because I'm cheap, but what I've read in various places would lead me to think that ecc ram will generally NOT overclock as well.

If I was going to spend the money, I'd go for the regular stuff.

ECC has error correction built into the stick and is generally used for servers.

Anyone actually knows for sure...........................?

According to crucial.com, ECC reduces performace by about 2%.

Right. You don't need ECC unless you're running a computer where data integrity is vital. Go for the normal RAM.
