I have an ecs k75SA which currently holds a 1ghz duron and 256 pc133 sdram. Saw an ad at Frys (So Cali) for 256mb ddr memory for $52.95. I'm assuming its a generic brand.
I'm fairly new to overclocking and still reading up on it before i get my hands dirty and would like to o'c soon.
Is this ddr memory worth it? should i stick to my sdrams?
or am i better off getting a name brand memory.
they also have a 512mb pc133 stick for $42.95...
Please advise.
any info would be grealy appreciated...

Does your motherboard support both brands of ram?

Is it overclockable since I do believe ECS don't overclock well or at all.

I don't think that's worth it here in Ottawa Crucial 256DDR PC2100 is like 44 Dollars on special.

Besides only a 10-15% increase.

Well, it's cheaper than the Crucial you can find here (http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.asp?Mfr%2BProductline=Elite+Group+%28ECS %29%2BMotherboards&model=K7S5A&x=19&y=15), but you probably would get what you pay for. I'm betting you'd see a nice performance boost, though.

Welcome to the forums,
IF your board supports use of either sdr or ddr memory I seriously doubt it can use both at the same time.

Fry's from what I understand does sell crucial memory no idea if what you saw advertised is cruical thou.

When you buy from crucial if you look in cyber deals usually there is a special link to get 10-15% off and usually shipping is free.

Make sure you know what you are getting from Fry's the ram they sell is crap. and only 4 layer. You want 6 layer if anything.
Don't buy the value crap. Go for the best.
