View Full Version : 1463 at default core !

I've been playing around with my bios settings again and
decided to see how high I could go at default core.
(In the past I have had it up to insane levels like 1.575 !)
Almost any problems I have had running at FSB's higher
than 146 or so have been due to memory timings I am
starting to think. Tweaking the voltage either didnt
help much, or made things worse.
This chip seems to like its low default voltage best.
(1.45v for the PIII-S chip)
Core temps pretty much stays at 41c no matter what I do.
(Can hit 42 if I crank the heat in the house up some...):mad :
Here is a pic.

Nice OC for a default voltage there!! dang.. :D very unlike my Cu-mine P3. Mine's been running at healthy 1450mhz on a P3 1000E@ freaking 2.30Vcore!! on a custom setup air cooled LOL.
Here's some screenshots:

Nice OC !!! :D
OMFG Thats a crazy OC espically with the P3 Server chip.
Good job man, you got me jealous.

thankx peeps.. :D
Also great oc on the 6502kid's P3S at default voltage. Nice :D

Hey milkpowder, that is a crazy vcore man:D
Nice !
1450MHz is crazy for the PIII. If that one dude with the 1.1 had that vcore I bet he would be up around 133+ fsb for a 1466 OC!

hey ol'man :D yeah tell me about it. It's crazy! LOL. :D I been rocking n rolling with it for quite some time. I had to very careful though and part of it was a luck not get my system fried at this Vcore. I am in the edge.. very close something bad can happen so I have to be careful and keep the system as cool as possible and watch that voltage flow on the PSU department. Something go wack, I could blow it. :D
To the others in this forum, PLEASE DON"T TRY THIS AT HOME. What I am doing isn't normal. It's not a simple OC and my cooling setup is a bit different than most intermediate overclockers. And Do NOT up the voltage this high if you want to play safe. It's pretty much common sense ya know.. :D

At that vcore I would always make sure the HS is touching the chip as it may fry if you do not get proper contact. I know it can happen:D

exactly... yeah man you're right ol'man. :D I replied to one of the members in this forum related with making good contact by leveling the HS with the Here (http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=53132) hehe :D
I was going to say the same thing as ol'man said...

I make shims with clear packaging tape and they are semi permanently stuck to the cpu so they will not shift. If you are interested I will post my method again! It is simple!
LOL Ol'man you always have something up your sleve. Simple to you is like close to impossible for us j/k
I heard shims don't do much though. What does your shim look like

Leveling the HS on my CPU packaging has almost been perfectly leveled but not 100% yeah ol'man I could use some of your method if you got a better way. I just have done this for temporary use cauze it's just some felt pads im using but works damn good LOL. yeah pls show me your method. i'd like to see, thankx :D

Here is the way I did it. The first pic shows the roll of tape where I cut the shim squares out of the roll with a razor blade. I went through a good 10 layers.
Then I took them off one by one and they looked like the second pic here.
I then attatched them to the chip until they were the perfectly level with the core. I think my tualatin took like 7 layers but I bet the cumines will take more! You need to test though with a HS and thermal paste to see when you get the best contact! Don't try it by eye. It allowed me to attached my pal 6035 perfectly. I also jacked up the socket clip on the HS by adding layers under the clip to give a more stout support. My pal sits perfectly flat on my core. One other bonus is that the chip has this stuck to it so it will not fall off or shift when trying to attach the HS even on a angle:)

LOL, I have done that with the jacking up the socket HS clip to give more stout support too when I was modding the SK-6 reinstallation! lol :D
Hey that's very good idea what you said about the attaching the cut clear packaging tape. Sounds good. Where can I get those clear packaging tape? Did u order one online or at the local store if so where? :p

Try Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Home Depot, Lowes, Ames, Price Costco...you get the idea;) clear packaging tape is not a specialty item...

Nice OC yourself there MilkPowder.
You might play with dropping the voltage just a hair at
a time to see if the chip likes it or not. How long you
been running it that high ?
Your sandra benches are just about right where mine
end up at that speed.

thanks.. ;)
oh I have done all sorts.. dropping Vcore, adjusting VIO, improving the CPU temp, improving the air flowing patter for my SK-6, and it's been running at this speed for about 2 weeks now. If I decrease the Vcore a notch, it's not fully stable (needing more voltage) when doing heavy 2D load or 3D gaming. But it is now working good. Making it through 3Dmark repeatedly at this speed@ 2.3V is something I had to bring out hehehe... very impressive and I succeeded it. It took long work and effort doing this project of my own. So Im happy enough here. :D Sorry I didn't mean to drag your thread this long because me. This meant to be for you, hehe
