View Full Version : Case fan setup
I'm just finishing up my new case, as far as fans go this is what I have so far :
http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/helfire/case.gif
The 100cfm fan (120mm Panaflow) will be blowing down on the CPU heatsink via a duct. The others are Sunon 92mm.
Opinions on airflow & how well it will cool?
Looks pretty good!
CFMs match up ok, intake and exhaust.
The only question I have is the fan on the side- 100 cfm onto the hsf. When I ducted fans to the hsf I found 80s rated a little bit more than the hs fan worked best (for me.) You might switch the case front 50 cfm and the 100: I don't think it would change the EFFECTIVE air getting to the cpu, but I'm fairly sure it would improve case cooling.
I could, of course be wrong: I haven't tried exactly that setup, and systems all differ anyway, but thats how it looks to me.
Try 'em both, see what works best!
***Bets trick I've found on fan placement: use cardboard to make temporary case panels- easy to mod, find what works best and THEN cut the case!***
Good luck!
Hello, in my case is little different
Robert: just want to double check this: the fan is sucking FROM the heatsink and exhausting to the outside rear?
I've heard others get better results that way too.
What are your case temps? It looks (?!?!) as though you might be losing some airflow by not having another exhaust from case to outside...
Just asking- I like seeing different ideas that I may need in the future!
Looks like you need maybe some more case fans to have better air flow as you only have around 150cfm going in there.
Your exhaust air that it exhausts seem to come in contact maybe with the heatsink fan sucking in the air so make sure the case fans is all the way back and the air it exhausts has nothing to do with the heatsink.
I also have a fan on the side. Its an 80mm but do not know anything about it, it came with my case. Should it be blowing in or should it blow out? Its right over my hs&f.

Is that your car in the avatar?
I'm into souped up Honda's and others :)
Since it is at the top near the HSF it should be exhausting, blowing out.
Just that it should be taking away the cool air which the heatsink should be taking in.

Sweet can I see the back of it? What I really like are the spoilers the rims, THE CLEAR LIGHTS, and neon lights on the bottom.

What do you think?
how do you add pics to your post? When I tried to load them, they just had a box with red x' s.
Hi, make sure that you saft the file in "XXXXX . JPG" and don't make it so big.

At the post theres a text field where you can put in right above "Submit" buttons and you can browse from your HDD or the WWW.
I finished modding the side. I switch the side fan to intake and my temps drop 2C. Now my temps rise up 2C. Why does it do this. I think the thermal paste might wore out because I do not have a good brand.
