can see public folder but not shared folder

Firstly let me say, im still hating vista

We have a laptop on vista, it is on the network and can be accessed by all the computers, all computers can view the laptops public folders.

However, I selected a folder I need to access and set it as shared, it shows on "my network places" on the other computers but it cant be opened, I get "access is denied"

What am I missing here?

Run sharring setup again for that folder. When window opens "Choose people to share with". You will find empty line, type "everone" and click add. You will see that was added, then change permission level to co-owner.

That is one way. I'd suggest doing it by user, I tried to avoid using "everyone" in any share, should someone else hop on the network. If you log into one of your "other" computers with:

username: user
password: password

Then setup a user with those credentials on the vista PC. Add that user to the share, and presto. User specific access.
