Hello there,

I was running prime95 v25 with 3 threads using my remote connection to my home computer and 2 of my core temps went as high as 73 degrees celcius. I was following the sticky thread above and, if i'm not mistaken, 60 degrees is the safe number for this b3 q6600.

So i'm just wondering, what are the oc'ed temps that you guys have? and what temp. is considered safe for this CPU? (without frying)

This is my setup right now.
EVGA 680i A1
OCZ 850W
nvidia 8800
Crucial DDR2 8500
120 extreme sink

Core temp. 1.375V
FSB 1.4V
MEM 2.1V
PCIx 1.4V
the rest auto

"Linked"
1333FSB
1000Mhz

Thanks.

You're fine my friend... my Engineering Sample B3 hits 82C under Prime. In real life situations though. like gaming, winrar, etc... the max it sees is like 65C... that mostly cause the games I play are single threaded applications and usually use two core at like 50/20. The other two cares are free to do whatever in the background. As long as you have good airflow on the heatsink, you're fine. No application you'll use in real life stresses the cpu like Prime95. Is it stable at that speed?

maybe try lowering the vcore, heck im running 3.89ghz with 1.5vcore, down from 1.58

Helps alot with temps to not have that voltage running running through it.

I idle at around 30-34c and max load with prime is 62-64c, depends alot on ambients.

At 3.89 with 1.58 vcore my temps would easily max out at like 72-72c.

You also have the newer stepping, which has proven to run significantly cooler in oc situations.

3 threads?
