Hi, I bought 4x1GB of Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500 for an EVGA 680i motherboard. None of the sticks worked at their correct speeds, nor would they 4GB work at PC2-6400 speeds. I found out that they are imcompatible with the motherboard and returned them.
Now I need some new RAM, I need 4GB. There is a compatible list of RAM on the evga website: http://www.evga.com/support/mbmem/ but it doesnt mention anything about 4GB.
Could someone recommend me some 4GB ram that will definatly work? I was looking at some Crucial Ballistix PC2-6400, but am unsure that 4GB will work.

I'm running 4G, see sig. I do tend to run them @ 4-4-4 at ~900Mhz instead of their stock speed. I'm sure there are other mem that work as well. I've found the lists at mobo sites to not reflect the full span of what will run, probably only what they test and since there are so many brands these days they don't test 'em all.

I will probably get some Ballistix PC2-6400 RAM. Hopefully 4GB will work.

I thought you said that Critical Ballistix wasn't compatible?

The PC2-8500 sticks aren't compatible. What the worry is that I was running the 8500s at 6400 speeds and 4GB wouldnt post.

You should have booted with crappy RAM, gone into the BIOS and raised the voltage to be within spec's of the 8500's. Then shut down and put in the 8500 chips. Could have worked if you are lucky
Reason being that they might not have been getting their required voltage at post

It will boot with 3GB of RAM, just not at the rated speeds. And when I do put them to the rated speeds/voltage, it wont boot.
