View Full Version : how to boot into dos (win2k)
Stupidly requesting help. I'm still relatively new to win2k so I haven't fully adjusted from win98. Anyways, I need to do a bios update and it requires me to boot into pure dos to utilize the upgrade process. Following the instructions in the manual; setting floppy as 1st boot device didn't work. Any ideas?

you need to have a dos boot disk like a win98 disk to boot into dos on a win2k machine.
If you don't have one go to www.bootdisk.com

Win2k doesn't have DOS in it, it's based on the NT kernel and as XP, it works without DOS. So you'll need a windows 3.1, DOS, Win9x/ME to boot into DOS, and that is plug the disk before Windows starts loading.
