Let me know if it will allow you to install it and all, I want to see if they auth'd it through the master server for the CD guys. Not that it matters, I'll be running it by this time tomorrow, but I am curious.

The game hits the stores Nov 16th, if you buy via EA you get it on 14th, that is how you get it early.....

So did it let you activate and all? I'd like to know if they have different rules for CD vs download.
People are playing it now, so obviously there are different rules for locations or something.

It is installing and has been for an hour now. The PATA controller on Abit IP35Pro's sucks! Gonna have to get a SATA drive.
It is about 80% done and the install dir is almost 6 GB.
You might get it early from ea, but that doesn't mean you'll be playin' it. Most games now can't be played no matter how early to get them.

Playing it as we speak!
Just got to the end of the demo. Runs pretty good. I get a pretty solid 30 FPS @ 1680x1050 Highs no AA. Pretty playable in single player.
Do I need to post a screen or 2 after the demo just to prove I got it early?

Pretty sexy game I must say. Even at 30 FPS it is totally playable. A++ to CryTek.
Oh and this is DX9 on XP.

I'm fairly disappointed in Crysis. I remember all they hype with the "is this real life or Crysis" pic comparison and even with the latest hardware, it looks kind of crappy, at least compared to my expectations. And yes, I do know the early screenshots we seen were on hardware the average person hasn't the money for nor the drivers. But 6 months ago, I was blissfully oblivious of what the latest hardware was capable of since my rig was like 4 years old and I stopped keeping up with the hardware scene much then.
Crysis is the best looking game in history. You can't argue with that. It's the most graphic intensive game to hit any platform. Ever. Remember, we still can't run it with AA on. I loaded some of the latter levels with the editor, and some of them DO look massively impressive. Especially when it's raining and everything is wet.
On another note, can anyone tell me how to get past the two tanks in the village? I'm stuck. I don't have any more nades and I can't find any rockets anywhere.

The fact that you said it looks crappy kind of invalidates everything else you say. :rolleyes: It is pretty much unanimous that it's the best looking game released up to this date.
My only complaints with the game are:
Not enough SCAR ammo spread about. It appears they tried to be realistic with this, since there aren't US forces everywhere, the ammo for the SCAR is scarce. It can sometimes be found in the VTOL vehicles or on the dead bodies of Marines (I hate seeing dead marines :(). I just think it's cooler than the AK style rifle (which has ammo everywhere) and I like to use the SCAR more. I solved this by opening the maps in the sandbox editor and adding SCAR magazines to the beginning of most levels.
Dual wield only pistols once you pickup another pistol is retarded. I wish they had an option to disable this or switch to only one pistol. Dual wield pistols is just dumb. You can't use your pistol iron sights after you pickup a second one too.
No access to a scope on the first level. You pick up the assault scope early on the second level though so this is rather minor.
The Halo 2 or Half-Life 2 like ending. I'm glad they're making another sequel, but I HATE being left with a cliffhanger for years at a time.
It makes everything else look like a cartoon.
What's up with Dual Core/Quad Core and SLI support?

BTW, does anyone know what kind of machines they developed/tested FarCry on?

Was also able to get Crysis last night around 8:30pm as EB had received their shipments of Crysis and NFS Pro Street so they sold a copy of the CE. I was pleasantly surprised at how smooth the game was running on my machine, DX10 with all settings on high. The graphics are stunning especially with the DX10 and the destructible environments are astounding (lob a nade into a shacked up building and just watch the fun that ensues as the entire structure collapses on the enemies).
Should get a group of people together to play online sometime.

Grow up? Perhaps you need to grow up and learn reading comprehension along the way. Oh and calling somebody immature for calling you on a ridiculous statement? Now that's ridiculous. You said "even with the latest hardware, it looks kind of crappy, at least compared to my expectations." Perhaps you were expecting the holodeck, but you very bluntly said it looks crappy. Everybody else says it's the best looking game ever (and it is), and yet it looks crappy to you? Compared to what? The game is gorgeous. Whether you're creeping out of the river or rice paddy with your silenced SMG to take down an NK or killing aliens with your gauss rifle in the ice sphere, the game looks amazing.

Maybe with the suppressor on at a distance. Even with the suppressor close up a burst from the SMG or SCAR will kill most any NK except for the nano suits.You gotta unload on those guys and they take multiple headshots from the sniper rifle to take down. Without the suppressor on, I was sniping down dudes easily enough with body shots using the SCAR with 3 round bursts. A burst from the SMG will also take somebody down. Strength mode really helps with firing bursts, but once they start firing back you have to switch to armor or cloak mode and move/evade or you'll be killed quickly on hard or delta difficulty.
Anyway, headshots with the suppressor are easy to score with the SMG or SCAR using the laser or assault/sniper scope from a distance as long as you take your time to carefully aim.

Can people post what different suit functions are useful for? I want to know if I missed some. I ask because I didn't realise strength was handy when shooting - I assume it reduces recoil?

I just picked it up at Gamestop. I would have preferred a store like BestBuy or somethin, but they arent anywhere around my area.
Think they only had like 3 vanillas and 3 Collectors total. Typical.
I just got into liking CoD4 lastnight though. Oh how will I balance the love? =)

Yea and with a small calipur full metal jacket round that is what would happen in real life. Their head wouldn't "explode."

A 5.56mm round entering flesh fragments violently. Usually its velocity is high enough to rip itself apart once it enters a person. Exiting a head would be pretty messy. It doesn't just travel straight through unless the velocity has dropped sufficiently due to distance, too short of a barrel, or a bullet that wasn't manufactured correctly. It is an effective manstopper when you use a long enough barrel to provide enough velocity for fragmentation.
A "point blank" or even close range hit from a shotgun will also deform a person's face and maim/wound them grotesquely.

Just got mine guys looks very awesome, about the only thing I can't stand about this game is that it was published by EA and they get to put there stupid LOGO on it, other than that have to commend Crytek for a well game, but I give EA no credit what so ever, also I give them no credit for gobbling up my beloved Bioware developer, anyways, running the game on a PC build I just did 3 weeks ago

Ballistic memory 2 gig
have a Zalman Fan on the CPu runs at 41 when games on
and Video card runs at around 62C, should I be worried?
will review the full game tomm when i can play it extensively other than that I am really happy with it, on another note check out COD4 amazing game on the xbox 360=wow

I just got Crysis while It does seem to be superior to most games, I was looking at some of the scenery and sad to say some of the scenery im MGS Snake eater can rival it, but doesn't beat it, you did say Any Platform so I have to bring in MASS effect from BIoware that will send shockwaves through the gaming community currently it will be released for the Xbox 360, there was even a show on it, on SiFI channel...and already has 50 awards, probably will get game of the year on all platforms
You shouldn't be worried in the slightest about those temperatures, pcmonster.
One thing that I'm very impressed with about this game is the fact that I only run the graphics on medium yet they surpass any other game I've played.

You know now that I think about it, Bioshock had some pretty horribly mutilated people (like shot in the face with a shotgun mutilated). You know there were a ton of "kids" playing that game. :p

I just loved the zombies and other freaks in STALKER....
One thing about Crysis that is dissaponting down this line is when you shoot the corps you don't get secondary wouds like in STALKER or Bioshock

Yeah if you shoot a hat that got knocked off a KPA soldier, it'll show a bullet wound.

They frequently have stuff for midnight releases. I got World of Warcraft from them on release night right at 12:00am.

Some of mine:
Strength:
Jump on top of buildings
Punch through shack walls
Throw grenades further
Pick up and throw enemies
Strength:
Punch Jeeps - tipping them over
Almost no recoil (including heavy machine guns and sniper rifles)
Picking up enemies (this can be done out of strength mode also, but gives a Shorter throw and doesn't neccessarily kill them)
Gives you steady aim with the Sniper Rifle
Speed:
Normal speed = sprinting speed in other modes
Long jump (doesn't cost energy)
Faster punches
Faster swimming (drains very fast, not much benefit)
Energy bar has to be full to run a full normal speed - while it's recharging you'll move slower, so it's worth switching to armour if needs be
Faster for reloading and switching weapon modes, faster firing in single round fire mode
Cloak:
Nothing much here, energy consumption varies if walking, running etc
You can be spotted by your shadow
Armour:
Fastest suit mode for Health and Energy regeneration
Pretty sure it absorbs landings from jumps better than any other mode
Hmmm can't think of anything else at the moment.

Damn I got a defected Crysis DVD. There's literally a tiny hole in the inside ring and my DVD started making strange clicking sounds...gonna exchange tomorrow I guess :(

Hmm, I took it out after a couple of clicks because I got worried my DVD drive might get killed. Should I stick it in and wait longer? Anyone else got clicking in the DVD rom?

then you can use the editor by going here:
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin32\editor
The installer is programDATA not program files.

And to anyone wishing the AI to be smarter, well get past the first level and you got it, they are definetly better, as there becomes more of them in much bigger groups. This is definetly the best game ever though.
