View Full Version : Are these realistic numbers?

At this point, I've decided to go delta=) I haven't decided on which model I'd want and which heatsink to pair with (probably a sk6 or some other hs w/ clips), but I'm sure it will be atleast the 7000RPM, but hopefully the 8000RPM deltas. Do chances look good of pulling in mid 20's celsius cpu idle readings? At this point, I am case fanless so I'll be picking up atleast a couple high revving case fans. Insight needed

Low 30's would be more realistic. Neither air cooling nor water cooling seems to able to hit the 20's without a more active cooling approach. (pelts, refrigeration etc..)
Only time I've seen 20's was with an untrustworthy socket probe, and a DigiDoc proved it wrong by 10C.

Hmmm...I've been pulling in idle temps on my 1.2 celly at a consistent 30c. Sounded rather plausible to me especially when I'm using a Volcano II.

hey,

the delta fans will push a lot more air, for sure...

but all airflow can do is bring the HS (and thru that the cpu) closer to ambient. so i'd say it really depends on your ambient (case) temps. you'd probably get better results by adding case fans over just upgrading your fan on your HS.

but in theory a delta *should* push enough extra air over your HS to get you somewhat closer to ambient temp. altho it's your call on whether it's worth the noise for that, heh.

anyhow, good luck whichever way you go with it!

I'm using the Vulcano II with a "Delta Black Label" and i'm telling you that the noise sounds like a Jet engine a terrible sound!! Anyway I'm still using the Delta but I puched it down to 7 V and when I'm going to LAN Partyes I run it on defalt voltage...

I agree with the lower 30's.

If you consider the Delta 8000rpm I believe they push 50cfm.

If you don't care about sound.

Go get a fan adapter for the first choice 92mm and second choice 80mm.

That will get you at least 60cfm+

And then maybe you can hit really high 20's maybe 28 or 29.

lower 30s? I hope you're talking about the cpu temp on full load, since I'm getting 30c on idle right now. I think the biggest problem is my lack of system cooling (0 case fans), which is the cause of my overly high 28c case temp. I don't have the guts (and knowhow) to do watercooling yet so since I can bare the dirtdevilish noise, aircooling is the only way for now.

Yes I am talking about load temps.

Also, I didn't notice your celey in the sig. High 20's are realistic.
I'm used to people cooling t-birds and such....my apologies.

You do realise that those heatsinks are full copper which are the best heat transferred material? And with those big delta's on them 40cfm or 50cfm. That will really cool your system?

And Intel not being as hot then I think that it is either going to be high 20's or low 30's.

Yes, I knew it sounded fishy that I'd be pulling in low 30 readings w/ Delta even though I'm getting 30c on my volcano. Anyways, I'm still currently deciding on a FULL copper hs, at which, I will strap the delta on. At this point, once I actually put in some case fans, I hope the ambient temps will drop to the low to mid 20s.
