It looks like we are going to lose this SETI gauntlet thing.
So, if anybody wants to add some horsepower to the cause, we need it.
Paddys and Ireland is producing TWICE our credits per day.

Seconding Ned's call. I've moved over my two folding quads to SETI, and am hoping to get another C2D running today. They helped us out during the folding competition earlier this year. We need to step up and help these guys. We also owe it to ourselves to not get beaten by another team.
It takes less than 5 mins to get BOINC set up, upgraded, and crunching for the SETI team.

I switched over three five quads and 1 dual core Mac, this morning.

Got my one C2D on board finally.
I can add probably 10 boxes this afternoon/evening...what all I need to do to setup the client?
On Windows, download and install BOINC as a service and launch itusing the advanced view. Attach to the SETI project with ocfolders@gmail.com as the existing user, password via PM. Suspend the project, close the manager, and stop the service. Download the machine appropriate optimized SETI app from lunatics.at ( http://lunatics.at/index.php?module=Downloads;catd=20 ) Download 7-zip and expand the files downloaded. Copy the three files in the Files to be Copied folder to the BOINC/Projects/setihome.berkeley.edu directory. Restart the service, restart the manager, resume the project, it may require a reset to abort earlier downloads and pick up the optimized app.
Edit: I added one more quad today.
The optimized apps are very important, cutting as much as 40% off completion times.
Ok, I guess I can move my 5 Quads + a c2d to help the team out.

QFT, it cut my expected time from 12+ to around 8hrs.

I'll fix my home systems to crunch for the gauntlet ocfolders account when I get home. The other C2D is already switched.
Let's do this ****
Paddys and Ireland... http://skins.hotbar.com/skins/mailskins/em/020105/020105_emMO3.gif the ocf gonna layeth the smackdown! :attn:
I cant seem to unzip the optimization files...I need an advil.
Edit: On this first machine Im on Vista.

Try opening 7-zip first, and then navigate to the archive and extract it to your desktop. On my installs 7-zip did not set an extension association and Windows Explorer didn't know what to do with the archived file.

id move over more machines but I freaking HATE 7-zip

I have WinRAR and it seems to work with 7-zip files. I think you can get a free trial of it HERE (http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar371.exe). Atleast that is what I use for all my archive files.
Added 10 P4 3Ghz...I'll check on em later tonight and see how they're looking and add a few more in the mean time.

What's up with that graph?
eaglescouter
11-16-07, 08:57 PM
That graph shows that as of this morning we were just minimally in first place.
Next update is 11am saturday.
They always show tomorrows data as the same as todays, thus the flat line at the end.

when did they combine those two teams?
It'll take a miricle to save us. :(

That was the first time I had noticed the flat line, and thus the question.
cant due to rig's being in shambals and not being at home for over a week now :D

aww, geez guys...
i havnt done seti.... in soooo long....
love to help out, but its too many hoops to jump through and all this stuff.
if we loose it will prove the monumental importance of the one click for all DC teams.
(i mean weve had it for how long?)
where is their one click?
eaglescouter
11-16-07, 11:40 PM
It's not quite a one click, but it is easy.
Download the client and install it : http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php
When prompted for a project pick Seti@home from the drop down menu.
When prompted for the user info, see your PM box.

Yep, get it running, optimizing is just gravy now

okay, running on my 3100+.
set it to 75% and its not looking smooth.
choppy like its throttling. 100% runs flat out though.
now im getting ahold of the optimizations...
EDIT or not.
i see the page but i dont see the download.
i dont want it that bad so im going to bed.

Hmmm when does this end? I already moved my machine back to F@H as I thought it ended this weekend. Hard to stop an SMP wu long enough to make a difference in this race and still get my F@H wu sent back on time.
I think it ends Sunday at 11am. My F@H stuff can hold off till then. :)

honestly, it might be a little too late for increasing our production now..... remember, it will take "at the very least" a couple days before your credit will be granted!! :eh?: well, at least we'll know what to do/expect on the future race!!
eaglescouter
11-17-07, 01:31 PM
Actually 50% of your units you can expect to be the 2nd person to report, thus you get credit for those immediately.
Thus current efforts are still worthy.
orionlion82

22% on what looks to be the first unit.
it looks like theres a bunch more waiting though?
why does it take so long for credit to return?
eaglescouter
11-17-07, 04:19 PM
A finished unit must be validated (crunched by somebody else).
When two matching units are returned, then credit is issued.
Sometimes an ancient slow box grabs a bunch of units and takes a long time to finish them, thus points can show up much later than expected.
