I have a home network with my other comp, and the network doesn't connect automatically on mine. On the other, everytime it boots up it connects, but when mine boots, I have to go in Start, Log Off, and log on again in order to connect. How can I make this connect automatically ? same thing happened in Windows98, Windows 98 SE, Windows ME

Check that you don't have logon to windows as default in the network settings, it should be logon to windows networking.

kindda fixed it, but still, it doesn't let me access the drives on the other comp unless I log off, and log on again, which takes a little time and is very annoying ! :mad: Any way to make the system boot directly into the "compaq" account automatically when windows boots up ? (compaq is the account name I used when I installed the drivers for my NIC card, so I could access the internet and my other comp. First time it booted in it automatically, then afterwards it didn't anymore, donno how or why)

I have 3 networked w/ ME and using ICS. And for a total newbie it was relatively easy with a little help.

minoukat: Under Control Panel > Network > Configuration tab > TCP/IP for whatever the home network adapter is > IP Address tab. Do you have "Detect connection to network media" checked? Did you use the Home Networking Wizard to set it up? Are you using a firewall? And are you using ICS?

I had trouble with it (similar to your problem) until I assigned IPs to each machine and configured ZoneAlarm to accept the network.

Yes, it's checked. Yes, I used the Home Networking Wizard. No, I'm not currently using a firewall, although I will reinstall ZoneAlarm soon. and what's ICS ?

ICS = Internet connection sharing
