PCI-X backwards compatible?

Hey guys,

Is PCI-X backwards compatible with PCI? Meaning, can I stick a PCI card into a PCI-X slot and have it work? I think I read that you can also stick a PCI-X card into a PCI slot and have it work if the PCI slot meets certains requirements and the leads aren't hindered hanging off the back end. Just wanting to be sure.

Nope, PCI-X is a server platform.

According to Wikipedia, they are backwards compatible between both technologies, a PCI card in a PCI-X Slot or vise-versa.
