Hi. I have recently upgraded the memory in my system from two PC-6400 5-5-5-12 Corsair modules (2x1GB) to 4 OCZ 5-5-5-18 modules (4x2GB), for a total of 8GB.

I run my Core 2 at 325 FSB normally with the DRAM frequency set to auto. With my Corsair modules it came up as PC-4200 dual channel. Now, in my motherboards manual I read that with 8GB only DDR533 or DDR667 is used, not DDR800. Upon installing my new modules I found that it was still on PC-4200 dual channel.

My question is, is this what it should be? Is Dual channel PC-5300 not available? And why when using my Corsair memory was PC-4200 used when in dual channel?

Regards, Freddie.

youll need to go into the bios and set the speed, voltage and timings manually.if you leave it on auto the chipset will choose them for you.

Maybe if you try running desired memory speed instead of auto, it might work.

Since I found my system is no longer stable at 310Mhz I reset the FSB back to 270-ish (and plan to re-do my overclock at the weekend, maybe more voltage to the northbridge will do it?).

However, I found that the memory was now running at PC-6400 dual channel interleave. So upping the FSB *reduces* the speed at which the motherboard runs the memory.

If it happens when I overclock the system again I shall manually set it.

Regards, Freddie.
