So at work, I have an X2 proc in my computer. For a while, I was running Feisty 64-bit, and folding SMP. I just recently reinstalled, but installed 32-bit (that was the DVD I had, and I was too lazy to download ANOTHER image).

Now, I'd like to be able to SMP fold - what's the best way to SMP fold without having to reinstall? Other than running Winblows virtually, I'm not really sure what my options are.

I'm pretty sure that even though the client should be 64bit stable, that it still wont install onto a 32 bit OS.

I'm also pretty sure your only two options are doing a VM of winblows or reinstalling to get back to a 64bit OS.

VM of 64-bit Ubuntu?

personally I would just re-install.

VM of 64-bit Ubuntu?

personally I would just re-install.

But wouldn't that have to be emulation, not virtualization, which means I can't run VMWare?

I dunno.

Yeah, I should reinstall, but I'd prefer not to, for a few weeks at least.

You can run 64-bit Linux in a VM under Linux, but you''d have to install VMware and 64-bit Linux in the VM which is more work than simply reinstalling 64-bit linux.
