i am gonna put a window in and some neon.. i was wondering if the colored windows take away from the affect of the neon?

It really depends. If you use a red window and a blue light you might get a hint of purple and so on. Me I have a clear window with green strobes and I'm very happy with it.
go with cold cathodes and clear glass. plexi is okay but glass just looks better.

If you go with a colred window I would recomend the same color lighting or a non colored lighting..

cold cathodes are here http://bgm.bgmicro.com and search under (Lit)Lights the 300mm ones are $6.99 and the 100 mm ones are $5.99...the inverters (power supplys) are here http://bgm.bgmicro.com/newsearch.asp?page=2&cri=LIT&stype=2 part # pwr 1110 is for the 300mm and part # 1120 is for the 100mm you have to pick up one power supply for each light...make sure you get a protective caseing for the cold cathode I just broke my 300mm one so i'll be ordering again and make sure also that you insulate the inverter so it is not makeing contact with your case or you when you touch it!!...Thanks to el for the B.G. micro tip....
