Hi
I have a DFI NF4 motherboard and it has the 8pin CPU power connector which I have my only 8 pin cable from my psu plugged in to it. I have a 2900XT in the mail and to be able to overclock it I'll need both an 8pin and a 6pin plugged into the card-- My question is how important is that 8 pin CPU connector? can i put a 4 or 6 pin in there and keep my processor overclocked? Is there perhaps any other sort of setup involving converters that I'm overlooking?
I do plan to get a new power supply, however my current enermax is still doing great and I'd like to be able to get by until phenom/790fx matures a bit.
Thanks for any help :)
edit: Are these 8 pin CPU and GPU connectors a thing of the past? I don't see 790FX boards having anything but 24 and 4 pin connectors nor do i see any other videocards with 8 pin connectors.
