Lately due to a student budget I have been using and living with the not quite up to scratch performance of my GeForce 2 MX DH Pro, and I feel tha it is time to upgrade. I do a lot of video work, use 2 monitors and have been attracted by the Radeon 8500.

I use XP and am a little worried about the stability in XP, also what sort of display options will I get? Gan I get a horizontal span option? I am also interested in the VIVO version of the card but as I have never used an ATI card before what do you get with these? Is it worth holding out for a Geforce 3 twin view? Will this happen?

Cheers

I think www.ati.com would be the place to go for this...

I don't want to lead you wrong ... :)

Glad you've gotten some time out of the Leadtek though, it was a good buy considering you've gotten 5 months from it...

I had a few issues with The 8500 and WIN XP so I reformatted and went back to 98 until ATI gets thier drivers w/XP working better.

I have absolutly no issues with 98 and the 8500 and I truly love this card.

I have never been a big fan of ATI as thier drivers always are lackluster and its a shame as the 8500 is a great card for the money. I paid under $175 for this OEM 250/250 and have no trouble getting to 300/300 with Powerstrip only.

My best advise is to wait a few weeks and buy the Gigabyte Radeon retail as its the best 8500 with 3.5ns ram and full hardware monitoring IE voltage, Temp and various other kick @ss features.

Hey could you tell me what software hardware and procedure you used to get that OEM 8500 overclocked? I would appreciate it!
