What needs to run:

1 dvd burner
1 WD Raptor
1 storage EIDE Hard drive
Intel Q6600
HIS Radeon HD3870
4x1gb DDR2 800
1 sound card
1 tv tuner.

2 120mm case fans,
1 rear exhaust pci slot fan.

Right now my Rosewill RP550 is running great, but Id like to go ahead and get something new to better power the quad. Also, Id rather not spend a huge amount of $$ on a PSU this time of year. So please no recommendations for PSU's that i could plug my house into :p

Thanks,

Ryan

SO is the consensus Corsair or are there any other sold offerings in this price range?

I saw my first Quad in person yesterday it was in an HP running off a 300w power supply lol but seriously HX620 or more if you are hoping to upgrade this system further later on.

Ryan,

Arguably there probably are but I don't know any that are better in this range, price and quality. $75 after $15 MIR form ZZF, hard to beat.

If Oklahoma Wolf rates it like he did here, I wouldn't look any further.

Trap,

Yes they can do that but I think the overclocks are locked and they're not running an ATI 3870 vid card. They engineer them with what they can get away with like some of the big Dells (375w).

I really hate this myth about PSU's. I would not even purchase a new PSU if your Rosewill is fine. I know its not the best, but don't fix what is not broken. Save your money. Are you voltages stable, and is the current unit running hot? If above are false don't worry, just watch your rails.

Its not running hot. It runs great with the quad @ 3ghz stock vcore and the radeon 3870, but when you start overclocking the 3870, it is evident that it is reaching the max on the rail.
