ZuckGou:)
Do you know if the ATI TV Wonder can do capture in ntsc format?
I can not find this info out by the specs on each card at ATI's site.
Here are the 3 things I want to do
Does anyone know if the ATI TV Wonder VE can capture at the normal ntsc resolution. I wanna take video from my 8mm camcorder and do 3 things
1) edit the video and burn to cdr as data for pc viewing in mpeg or avi format
2) convert edited video to vcd for dvd viewing
3) take edited video and record to vhs tape via out function
HELP needed

ps: if the ATI TV Wonder VE will allow me to make/edit video clips and burn them to a cdr in mpeg/avi format as well as let me convert these clips to vcd for viewing on a dvd player then that may be good enough cause the cost is an issue for me and the VE is cheaper than the Wonder by $40 canadian

You can do all those things. You can capture video, edit, burn a VCD, or if you have TV-out put it back on VHS.
The thing is quality. The VE cannot capture at 640x480, while the regular TV-wonder can.
The VE's max capture is at 640x240, which is an odd format you wouldnt use. When capturing with the VE, you would need to use 320x240. This is the best for having the video on your HD. But if you wanted to put it back on VHS, it would have to double it's size to fit the TV's 640x480 resolution.
Now, if your using an 8mm to start with, you could probably get away using 320x240 and putting it back on VHS. There will be a quality loss compared to your original tape, but it's definately usable.
I was using the VE for about a year with my 8mm camera and made many VHS tapes.
When I upgraded the camera to Hi8 and wanted the better quality tapes because I would use it for school, so I went and bought the regular wonder.

Atic has the Wonder for $95, probably the cheapest around here.
Now you have to decide if it's worth the extra bucks :)

Looks like I am gonna go for the ATI Tv Wonder no VE model as I will want the best quality possible, $30 more I can handle.
