I've been using Zone Alarm for a while now and I've never had a problem with it remembering the programs I use when I check the tic box.I don't know if it has something to do with my router or what but every time I start my computer I have to allow access to pretty much everything again....

Have you tried including the router in ZA's advanced security settings?

I ran into this before with the free version.
Somehow, your .rdb files get corrupted and in the free version, you simple delete them and when you run the program again, new ones will be created. You'll have to authorize programs one more time though.

I don't know if it's the same for ZAPro, but I would think so. Might check their site for anything further.

If you want to try that Idea, go to C:\WINDOWS\Internet Logs and delete everything. Start fresh on the next start up of ZA.
Hope this helps some. :)

I was leary of saying anything for fear that Pro would be set up slightly different. The more I sat and thought about it, the more I realized the files were going to be in the same location anyhow.

Glad to be able to help. The file corruption doesn't happen often. It's usually after an upgrade from one version to the next, but if it happens again, now you know what to do. ;)

Cool.
We know how to fix it, now if we just new what corrupted the darn things, we might actually be able to avoid corrupting them.
Seems to screw up right after an upgrade, but not always. :D

I had just switched machines around and done a clean install of Win2K pro, to add to the "mental database".

Definitely fixed the problem though, as its still good now.

If you go to the support section of the ZoneAlarm website under Known Issues you will find a description of this problem along with the fix. Its number 11 - How do I refresh my TrueVector database files? Sometimes the vendors actually do have instructions for fixing problem so it never hurts to check their website first.

Actually, I did check their support section first, but I didn't read every issue: I just looked for topics/headings that looked similar- and saw nothing! It was a fairly cursory glance through though.

Well, there is the link for the next time someone encounters the problem. I couldn't find it either, when I was looking for it. I knew what to do only because it happened to me before.
