I saw in the CPU database on this site a dude managed to overclock his 1GHz Duron to :
- 1.85 Volt ( Tried this, but my temp rises to + 49° and my PC HEALTH Tab indicates Vcore : 1.75 ??? Dont get it)
- 10.5 Multiplier
- 115 Mhz
(I connected my L1 bridges with scotch tape... A bloody hell of a job... But i managed to do it :) )
If do the same as the person above did, and i save and exit bios... I get a blackscreen. So i Cleared my CMOS with jumper and tried again...
Suddenly it worked, it indicated 1207MHz... I got back to bios watched my temp, and resaved... Again, blackscreen...
Thats my problem, I guess my Vcore wont pass 1.75 even when i put it on 1.85 !!!
What do u guys suggest, i mean the max overclocking for 1000 Duron....
Thx a lot,
Here's my system specs :
MSI K7T TURBO 2
THERMALTAKE VOLCANO 6CU FAN
1GHz Duron
256 SDRAM
GFORCE 2 MX 32 MB Equipped with Blue Orb
Added a 8x8 fan in back of my case
10 gb Hard disk
What do u guys suggest, i mean the max overclocking for 1000 Duron....
You need to find that for yourself each chip is different..take your time and enjoy. Do you know the stepping your chip? read this (http://www.overclockers.com/tips120/index06.asp)
Welcome to the forums and good luck!

maybe you're overclocking too high, try to up your FSB and multiplier a step at a time... then do some burn-ins...
have you got a thermal compound on your fan and CPU? I think theres a poor contact between them...
If this doesnt work, u may need to bridge your L7's to get your Vcore to 1.85V...;)

Im overclocked 155 Mhz with the vcore at 0.0000

I Removed my Fan/Heatsink the volcano, And there was some black compound on... But its really thin ! And of course from removing heatsink couple of times, theres no compound left. So i went to store and bought that Silver stuff, was not cheap :) but worth it. My temp's now 39-41.
I think I didnt bridge my L1's well... If i use a multiplier, i always get black screen... But if i take multiplier 10x ( Default ) and FSB 115 I get 1.4Ghz. Weird, but it worked, so i did 30x burn test, and my temp raised to 52° in MBM . That was without the silver compound. Didnt try it yet with the compound.
The pencil thing diesnt seem to work, not enough graphite in it i guess. I read that defogger could do the job, but i have no clue what it is. I live in Belgium and speak Dutch, if anyone could help me out here and tell me what defogger is, i think i could manage to bridge my L1's ...
one more question, whats the max. Bios cpu temp for Duron AMD and Motherboard system temp ( have a K7TT Turbo 2 from MSI)?
Cause i know those thermistors are not accurate at all !
Thx a lot for helping me out guys.

Even though you can change the core voltage in the BIOS that does not really change the voltage at all. You need to connect another bridge to do that. It will increase the voltage to 1.85. Then when you check the BIOS the default will be shown as 1.85. I can't remember what bridge it is at the moment....anyone know?

In my answer above, i meant that my CPU speed was 1.04 GHz... Sorry bout that
you may not want to attempt Overclocking with out the thermal paste on the HSF..in fact you may not want to run it at all with out some quality thermal compound( u said you bought some expensive silver stuff...if its artic silver..then you got the good stuff)
