Is it possible to undo a rollback in XP Pro? My friends rolled back his PC to an initial install which is causing all sorts of problems in windows media player.

The restore point is the default one after the OS was installed. Any help is appreciated.

Not a good idea. Here's the MS site explaining what can happen:

If he hasn't done anything else, he might get it back with System Restore if he made restore points.

No restore points. He's pretty much SOL i think. Bummer, he's a 10 hr. drive from me and I don't know anyone up there to do a re-install for him. lol.

By "rollback", I assume you mean your friend used the built-in System Restore tool in XP... Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | System Restore | Click "Undo my last restoration", click Next, then reboot.

No, he did the "Start from last known good conifguration" option from the Advanced Startup menu (F8). THe menu came up because the system "did something wierd and shut it self down." Thats the explanation i got. He's not to good with computers, i built the rig back in '02 that he's using, but he's 10hrs from me.
