Ok so right now i have a 8800gts evga 320mb, now should i upgrade to the 8800gt? I will probably be losing around $100 after I sell the GTS.. WHAT DO YOU THINK!?!?! Sell it now or later? I am just afraid the prices will drop on the GTS like crazy!!!

not much gain to go from gts to gt. save the money and wait for a high end card. or pick up 2nd gts for SLI when the price drop like crazy :santa:

You would get a huge performance increase.

but the new 8800GT Revision two is replaving the 8800GTS. Its basically an 8800GT with a dual slot cooler design and 128 stream processors. Suppose to be 299~350. Will be well worth the wait should be coming out in two tweaks give or take!

There wouldn't be a "HUGE" performance increase. He already has an 8800GTS. The performance increase would probably not even be that noticable. Yeah the 8800GT is faster, but not by enough that the already fast 8800GTS would make it seem that noticable.

I notice a pretty large difference between my 8800GTS 640mb and my new 8800GT 512mb in games like Crysis, the difference between barely playing it and being able to turn up some goodies etc.

I am still going to use EVGA's step up program as soon as the new 8800GTS hit stores hehe.

What I dont understand is this.... how people claim that ANY of their 8800 cards can "barely play Crysis" when on my lowly x1600pro, I can play Crysis on all medium settings, without any lag at all. So really, how can any of the 8800 cards "barely play" Crysis? It just doesn't make any sense to me to be honest.

Resolution you're playing at?

Medium -> High = bigger hit.

I do 1680x1050.

Yes, I realize that is you play at anything higher than 1280x1024, then you are going to need about 512mb. But the majority of people either play between 1024x768 - 1280x1024, or they play at a massive res, so in order to obtain that resolution you need a relatively large monitor; and usually if they spend that much money on a display... 300 - 400 dollars for a video card isn't much to them.

Sure you can run Crysis on your X1600pro on lower settings but the game looks terrible in comparison at those settings and ofcourse on lower resolutions :)

I wouldnt even play it if I couldnt run it at 1680x1050 with the higher settings.

Medium really doesn't look all that terrible, but personally; I find it to be quite overkill to play at a massive resolution. So really, people who claim that an 8800gts 320mb wont run Crysis at high settings, they never specify what resolution you're playing on.

And if you buy a 22" widescreen LCD and play on 16x12 and buy anything with <512mb, then lol@you.
