Can anyone tell me good programs to test the stability of my CPU? I recently unlocked it and now I wanna see how high I can go. Please gimme links to good stuff to use to test its stability!

Toast , Folding@home , 3dmark2000 , 3dmark2001 and you could lay graphic intensive games. If you can loop 3dmark2001 ten times you are very stable and you should run toast for tewn minutes if you can pass both of those tests you should be stable.

Ehhh.... running at 136 x 7.5... my temps on Sandra say the CPU is 47 C... I do 3dmark 2001 and it crashes after the first demo. That means I'm unstable doesn't it? I know I could use a better heat sink/fan, but nothing else has any errors at this speed so far... other games run fine...

Yes that means its unstable. Back it off until you can run 3dmark in a loop without crashing. Whats your core voltage?

After playing some Counterstrike it worked again... it worked the very first time I did the benchmark then I came back like 3 hours later and it didn't work. Now it is fine again. Here is my score with my glorious Voodoo 4 4500 PCI. :D

Before, running Prime95 with 136 x 7.5 would give me an error immediately. I backed off the multiplier to make it 7.0 so it is 136 x 7.0 and I get no errors at all in Prime95. Still yet to try 3dMark2K1, though...

Well you can oc as you wish but you may not need to drop a full 68mhz to gain stability you could first try decreasing your fsb this way you could check stability in 7.5mhz increments.

What would really give me the best performance out of my machine? A higher FSB or a higher multiplier? All I really want to get out of this is the highest framerate as possible on games that I play. :D I have to admit, thought I like to do the Sandra benchmarks, too. Wouldn't the higher FSB speed give me better results in both Sandra benchmarks and games? :eh?:

Yes , at the same cpu speed (7x150 or 7.5x140 =1050) the higher fsb should give better fps and better memory performance provided you remain stable.

I like to run my fsb around 150 the only reason I dont run 7x150 on my duron is all the components won't run stable at that speed namely my video card.

i would suggest "CPUburn." it can put even more stress on your cpu than toast and prime95 combine. I suggest u run those sandra(CB and MMB) for about 150 times, then do prime95 to check for any error, then...burn it to hell for 20 min. be careful tho, u should stand beside when using burn, for it can reall "toast" ur cpu. once i got a lame HSF, and after 5 min, my computer shut down by itself... 3dmark2001 is good too. just mix them up. have fun watching your temp souring:) go all out and never lower your standard, what'z the point of running a unstable machine even it is @ MHz?

yeah, one last thing, after u think it is safe becasue u bypassed those tests, just play ur favorite game for an hour or two..u will see...

Burn6 or Prime95: leave them on for a couple hours and if they are still running your good (Burn6 will quit if there are any problems, not sure about Prime95).

Also try Sissoft Sandra, use the Burn-In Wizard and run the CPU Benchmark and CPU Multi-Media Benchmark from 50-100 times. It takes a long time, but watch a movie or something.

3DMark2001, to see if your increasing the FSB messed with your AGP/PCI.

And a nice test that's fun too play for favorite game for a couple of hours (Quake III, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Half-Life, and Unreal Tournament are good ones).

Have fun with your computer,

CPU Stab test is one good way to test CPU stability... all test performed are CPU intensive. Also gives you the option for CPU warming only to get your max temp... search for it at Googles...

Games for Burn-in... Quake3 and MaxPayne... instantly freezes when CPU has problems...

IMHO "CPU Stab Test" takes 2 long... u need at least 12 hours of testing time...i just dont' have that kind of time to waste. unless u leave system on when u go 2 sleep, but you won't be able to know what have happened.
