Ok I want to open a Custom Computer shop and was wondering. What classes do I have to take in order to do this. I want to be able to build from scratch you know ground up for what the person needs and not what he doesn't.

Where I lived, the junk yard owner let kids tear cars apart and build better ones. Best training in the world. See if your community has a computer recycling program (we have one here in Cleveland). If not start one on your own. Best experience you'll ever get.

Good luck

I would look into hardware trouble shooting classes. A good knowledge of power and electrical systems couldn't hurt either. If you plan on supplying network equipment, obviously add a networking course to the list.

There are usually large "corporation" based training schools in most big cities. I'm sure you could find online courses as well. The other side of opening a "shop" is the business end. A degree in business management or computer science with a mgt. minor couldn't hurt.

Partnership, ownership, payroll, rental..all that stuff is big. Best of luck in your endavors!

Ok thanks guys. I already know how to build them. I just want the Degree to back it up you know to let people know that I know what I'm doing. As for the networking don't think I'll be doing that one. There is about 10 or 20 ISP`s here in a town of 50,000 so.

Get your buisness lic, or look into it to find out what you dont know to find the rite class, from there all the ideas ive heard sound good but if you believe in your skills then your ready to open the doors, start small just yourself as business grows then the lic will be more importrant as you start to hire people.

Get your A+ cert. The training for the Cert will help you learn a lot.
MCSE books are a good thing to read and learn, even if you do not get your MCSE, there is good info in the books.

Other than that, like everyone else said, experience is the best teacher.

You see what I want to do is build computers and pimp them out. Like windows cooling O.C.ing custom paint jobs you know stuff you can go to Best Buy and get. Like why would someone spend $1,000 just to be able to get on line. the way I see it build what they need and leave out what they don't.

ok... here's the fast track.

Go to your local community college. Major in Computer Science (MIS concentration) or MIS (same thing, they're just listed differently in different places). While you're doing this, read up and practice to get your A+ certification.

A degree in Computer Science (MIS) will give a lot of the knowledge of Math, business law, economics, and personal communication required to either open up your own shop, or run an IT department, while your A+ cert. (MSCE and Net+ are good things to add) will give your your technical experience.

have fun.
