I was thoroughly confused by it, too, until I printed the docs. Used a helluva lot of ink for that, but it was worth it.

I use it from a boot disk for backups, so if you want to try that (and if enterprise works the same as 2k1), then this is what I did.

Run Ghost from prompt. (a:\ghost\ghostpe)
Select top option (can't remember name; "Local", I think)
"Drive" or maybe "disk"
"to drive" or maybe "to disk"
It'll ask for the source drive, which is probably Drive 1
And then the destination drive, which is probably Drive 2
You'll want no compression since you just want to copy.
And I think that's all. Damn... maybe I haven't helped at all. :p

Oh, if you're new drive is going to use different size partitions than the original, then you'll probably want to copy partition to partition instead.

I shouldn't try explaining something like that at bedtime. If this looks all screwy, definitely don't do it. Not worth fragging a HD. I was just backing up yesterday, too.

geee..alright..
are you saying that i need to use a bootdisk?
i saw some dialog box in the NGhost...that is used to make a bootdisk...which one should i pick??
thanks for the response..
anyway, did you manage to do what you wanted to do?
i am formatting both drives as NTFS>...
amm...btw, do you know if i upgrade to XP from win2k, will all my hardware drivers come along as well or not?? because i wanna use XP...but my vid capture card does not install on XP...because of my obsolete asus CUSL2 MB..which doesn't give out updates for XP... grr.....
so i tot of upgrading my win2k to xp and see if it works this way.
any comments?

Umm... NTFS... well, I don't have a clue if anything I said will work. I've not worked with NTFS partitions and I don't know how Ghost will work. Best best would be to print the docs if it's an OEM CD. Or at least read them and print what is necessary to get you running. Sorry I couldn't help more.

1) Install Ghost
2) make a boot disk:
Start->Programs->Symantec Ghost->Ghost Boot Wizard. Select the type of boot disk you need and follow the instructions.
3)Reboot and boot off of the boot disk.
4) Select Local->Disk->to Disk
5)When it asks, select Source and Destination Disks.
6) If it asks about compression, say no.

I've created numerous image's of my HD with Ghost with NTFS file systems. Sure dos won't recognize it but Norton ghost will. It'll just be labled as disk 1 and not C:\. But yes it will work.

does it take long to image? (i know it's about my Harddisk size though!)

All I ever use is an old Win 98 or ME bootup floppy disk. You just need to get to a Pure dos prompt that's all. Of course if Norton ghost is on your NTFS partition you won't be able to run it. You'll need to either have it on a seperate partitions that's Fat 32 or on a CD. In which case you need to install your CDrom drivers for dos as well. But your bootup floppy should give you that option.

I usually go for the one that allows access to CD. Don't know why- I don't need CD access.

I'm the same way. But I keep my second harddrive Fat 32 for that reason. So I can see it in dos. But yes I still have a tendancy to install the Cdrom drivers in dos even though I don't need them.
