It looks all World of Warcrafty :bang head

Why must everything with the title STAR TREK suck (at least game-wise)..

Graphically, it looks nice for an MMO to me. Keep in mind, extremely complex and detailed graphics in an MMO is often a bad thing in practice...tends to make the game run poorly and doesn't make it accessable to the masses. The thing to look for is generally something that looks fairly good and has nice art work while running smoothly even on machines that are several years old. If it looked like a state of the art FPS it would likely run terrible and hardly anyone would play it.

So...I see simple graphics that look nice. Clean, icon/button based interface. That alien sure takes an informal tone to what I assume is a starship captain... :)

I actually think the ship looks pretty cool

I also agree with the above posters that said an mmo can't be heavy on the graphics side.

my 2 cents

wtf are you guys smoking, that shot looks amazing. O_O

I personally can't wait to play it, even if there isn't any PVP, because I'm a huge star trek fanboy.

I'll be dissapointed if I can't get my own defiant though.

i'm confused as to how this looks like WoW? cuz it has icons?....?..... cuz it has a chat box?....?....

i think it looks nice also. really hard to tear down a game based off of one screenshot which actually looks pretty good by mmo standards....

That looks great, I hope the 360 or PS3 versions look as good.

I don’t see the correlation between great graphics and how great the game plays. As far as looking like WoW, do see the similarities with the color schemes and lack of hardcore realism.

It looks ugly.. It looks like WoW graphics meet Star Fleet Command III.... Is that a Galaxy class ship? Please tell me this game sticks to the Trek time line and isnt anything crazy like the last Trek series "Enterprise".. Arg.. It looks like WoW Trek to me... Its too cartoony.. Why do they keep making Star Trek worse and worse as the years go by? If its dead leave it dead.. or bring it back to how it was by using what the series has to offer.. not making up junk and fillers to try to appease to a nonexsistant audience. Yeah... Im a Trek nerd.

can i design my own ship?

Can I choose to NOT be star fleet?

Can I steal ships from players/NPCs?

Mr.DLucey, Ok thank you I've also seen a post where you may have to pay real cash for in game items..

I know this is the case in evercrack and some older mmo's when you want that rare item, But this is different from what I've heard

Any word on a release time period for this?

Just a side note:
In archlord they have some system where you can buy items for real money. Most of the items give buffs that are like +150% exp for 2 days. Kinda cool, and kinda dumb at the same time.

I was cool then everyone started to find out about this and they've nerfed that LOL.

Yeah got it from StarTrekOnline.net , also its been said larger ships will not be able to be owned by anyone, as they are just too powerful.

Lol... i had some pretty elaborate macros that I made to kill those guys outside of coronets spaceport. Would auto-target, kill, and loot. That's how I got alot of the early crystals I needed for my Jedi. Used to leave it overnight just grinding away. Used to make some good early exp on that too.

Well that sucks. There was no limit on powerful ships in Eve Online. Maybe I'll go back to that. After they fix that boot.ini thing.

The only real thing this screenshot tells us is flying a starship is going to be a 1 man job, atleast it seems. With a very simple interface and only a handful of options. I wouldn't be suprised if starships end up being nothing but flight paths. The hopes of having a group or guild run their own starship and needing to work together to get the most out of it, e.g. com, engineering, tactical, science, communications, etc seem like lost causes. /sigh

actually they've stated that thats how it would be, but some of the smaller ships can be piloted solo.

The other thing that was mentioned as possible was that you got bonus's for having live players in key positions, engineering for example, so you're ship would actually be much stronger and much more effective as opposed to the significantly weaker AI officers.

Don't count it out until it's out, I have high hopes for it.

Well that some what true. I was a Master Doctor for quite some time and My buffs would make you a god, for a dew hours any way. Macro's were part of the game, you understand you had to write them your self. If you were lucky you could find one all ready written that you could mod to do what you wanted to do. Days on end well not really. The server reset every day at 7AM or so. I taught my wife how to and where to move my toon and how to start the macro running so I could get XP all day while I was at work, hehe. Hey I was not the only one by a long shot, many wifes (and players at work) would start their guys up and run them all day. I made a few friends I would chat with that didn't play. Enough of that now back to the subject.

That would be cool having a few friends man the bridge and do some PvP as long as I'm captain  as well being to replace one if you were short on friends that day with a NCP. From what I read seamed their would be missions on the planet to, "Away Team" any one.

SO not true. You're talking about Pre-cu buffs. They lasted for 3 hours tops and you could still die, you couldn't leave your computer. You basically couldn't do anything in that game without a buff. But remember 3 hours is not that long, especially when you couldn't heal urself (mind) with the macros.

What a shame, back when I heard about Star Trek Online a good 2 years ago or so I really got my hopes up and it sounded pretty promising and that they would for once have a game worth buying.

Back then I also heard this would probably have a monthly fee as well, is that still true?

most MMO's do.

I have a feeling this game will be awesome, some of the statements in this thread about how the game is already crap and **** are silly. It's one screenshot of a game thats not even in beta yet.
