I have the chance to get the iPod touch 8GB this weekend for $230. I was planning on getting the DS Lite until I saw that. Now I priced it out, and to get the DS Lite with a Cyclops modcard, and a MicroSD card would cost about $200 total. I plan on mainly running NES and SNES emulators on whatever I buy. The web browsing and other features of the iPhone make it really appealing, and I'm not sure there would be that many DS games that would interest me. I have an aging 4th gen b/w 20GB iPod I need to replace at some point. The 8GB capacity for music is no problem for me, I don't travel with my whole library. Can anyone sell me on one or the other?

For what you're wanting, I say neither. Get a PSP.

I thought someone might say that :p However, someone told me the brand new PSPs you get in stores can't be modified to run homebrew, as in their firmware version was locked down. Anyone know anything about that?

Wouldn't one of these get the job done? http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=537141 (classifieds link, sorry to those without access)

The psp can play emulated games, psp games, and it has an internet browser.

Yea, but those are $200, and I can get a brand new one for $153...maybe he'll come down in price.

Ok, but if he can mod all of the ones you see pictured, couldn't you mod a new one yourself? Seems as thought it's possible based off of his sale.

Thats my thoughts. I'd rather just pick one up in-store for $153 and mod it myself.

There is a firmware update now to let you run homebrew on your PSP, sorry can't provide link due to forum rules (google is your friend).

Yea I'm kinda leaning towards the PSP now :) However if Meijer doesn't have one, then I'm just gonna the iTouch. 10% off coupon is only good for one day :(
Thats it, the PSP just sold me. Meijer here I come
