The question was asked about passkey's and donating WU's to others. 7IM answered this in the Stanford Forum, that the person's name, and their passkey, are completely different. So if you fold for someone else, and don't change your passkey (or remove that entry completely from your config), it's OK. The named receiver WILL get the points credit, AND your passkey will be listed as the account which did the folding, in Stanford's data.

So donating a WU without changing or removing your own passkey, is totally OK.

You shouldn't get a new passkey however. Your passkey is given credit even though the name field has changed. More credits for your passkey will eventually equate to more credits for you.

Yes, it's a gift - but it's actually TWO gifts:

1) The person named gets the immediate points credit.
2) The person with the passkey builds toward future points with Stanford in the passkey program.

Two, Two, Two gifts in one!

Stanford has a passkey program in place - optional at the moment. If you get a passkey, then it prevents someone from maliciously using your name on purpose, and against Stanford's rules, in order to have your points zero'd out. You'd have passkey protection and Stanford would know that your rigs didn't break any rules.

Also, Stanford says it will be assigning extra points to passkey holders, on a small scale.

In the context of this thread, it was asked if someone with a passkey needed to change their passkey when they gave a present of a WU to another teammate. Stanford says "No". Not necessary. The passkey owner will receive credit for the unit in the passkey system, *but* the name listed in the client.cfg file, will ALSO and independently, receive the points of the WU, immediately.

So the points still work as before the passkey system was started, but now we can get a small boost also, from the passkey system.
