i have a asus cusl2-c black pearl with a PIII 667, i want to o\c this baby but do not know too, does this cpu need unlocking first and how much to take it too, first time o\c i though this would be a good start before o\c xp1600 on a7v266-e please help?
Intel multipliers are locked, so you have to raise the bus speed... in your case, the bus speed is at 133mhz already, which is high, but most can reach 150mhz bus with decent RAM and good cooling. In order to run at higher speeds the CPU may need some extra voltage, but only a .05-.10 increase, and watch the temps... anything above 45C when the CPU is at 100% can be dangerous without good cooling.

If you are a first-time overclocker that is if what you meant then oc'ing the AMD chips might be little more complicated than the Intel chips for oc'ing. If this is your first time oc'ing, go to the BIOS by restarting the computer(if your comp is already on) then as it starts to boot start repeatedly pressing "Delete" key on your keyboard. If it doesn't take you to BIOS menu screen, then restart again and keep pressing "Esc" key.
You'll have to spend some time look through the menu and ger familiarize with the functions and features. Look for the FSB(front side bus) frequency setting. For Intel systems, usually start from 66mhz default (if you built your own comp). As what Mr. Pinky said, you can only change the FSB in oc'ing option. Play with it carefully, bump it up a little bit and see if it'll boot. If you oc higher, using a better HSF is recommended. Those EB chips oc pretty well in FSB. If you could manage to keep your CPU and ambient temp in your case down low, then that would help a lot also.
