Hi
I have an original Geforce 1 DDR card (Creative Labs Annihilator Pro) and was wondering whether there's any benefit to upgrading to a GeForce 2 MX400 card ?
Current CPU is an Athlon XP1600 on Epox 8KHA and 256Mb DDR memory
TIA

Not really, save your $ and get a ti200 or a g3.

Thanks.
In betwen my original post and your reply i finally found what I've spent all morning looking for (it's not exactly a busy day at work today :-) ), which is some benchmark comparisons at anandtech between the two and it shows that my cards is about the same speed as an MX

get a Geforce Ti. It is a great card. This weekend I went to a friend's house and upgraded his old Geforce card to a Geforce Ti. He had all the options on maxed out and it was beautiful. We also added 128mb so that he now has 256mb of ram. I think the cards run around $110 at newegg, this is just a rough estimate. Good Luck

I would get a gainward gf3 ti 200 cheap and a very nice card you can get a nice overclock on it and also it looks pretty too...
and Welcome to the forum
the system you have can compensate the small difference between both cards but despite the fact both benchmark close to each other the geforce2 demands a lot less of your cpu and all the system because it can process many things yours cant. the diff would be greater running a less powerful system.
if you can wait to get one Ti200 or even one geforce2 pro is in fact a lot better.

All great replies , yep a G2 Ti200 is one option or a G3 Ti200 for about $50-60 more (now you are in 8500 OEM price range which is a better buy for more performance)
A better otpion imho over a G2 Ti200 is a Radeon 7500, faster, and very overclockable and can be found for $108 online, sports newer technology as well.
Only card that does TV out at 1024x768!! But if I stumbled upon a nvidia thread pardon me LOL

yes i have heard that the 7500 is good and i have heard that it is bad. The reason why i recomended the gf2 ti is because I have seen it's performance increase from a gf, and i still havent seen a machine witha a 7500 or 8500 or gf3 ti200, though i plan to buy a new vid card soon. Happy Holidays!
