got myself a new build this weekend: (finally)
Q6600 G0 w/ Tuniq Tower 120 w. 80CFM scythe
Asus Maximus Formula SE (not watercooled, but was only mobo of type available)
EVGA 8800GTX (standard)
4GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800
3x250GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 (2 in raid0 and other running swap space)
CORSAIR 520HX PSU
i have that big case from thermaltake (armor) with 3 120mm fans (2 in, one out, but one of the in's is stock/lower CFM pushing through the three HDD's) and 2 90mm fans (one in one out) plus the PSU out...
CPU runs nice and cool; 28C per bios... 35C per CoreTemp and 49C max under load; ambient is ~24C
one of the 120's is pushing directly to the 8800GTX but the thing still runs at about 50-60C! i think i'm going to work a shroud over the fan to give the GPU a more direct airflow (plus, that fan is zip-tied to my case, kind of floating there... so i'm sure it isn't running very effeciently)
i should mention though that my mobo and NB are running a bit hot
29-33 on the mobo and ~49 stable on the NB. i cant really do much about the NB as the Tuniq blocks pretty much everything i've tried with the things i have atm. it is just running with the plastic caps off, and that;s it!
i'm having the typical problem with my memory and this mobo (my taskmgr is reading 3.25G of the total 4...) though CPU-z sees all of it (?)
i haven't OCd the CPU b/c of the mem prob and the NB heat - maybe i'm being too cuatious? you tell me...
but so i go to OC the GPU with rivatuner
my base score on 3DMark06 was 12459, which is decent i guess
but as a push the core clock up my score just keeps getting lower!! (haven't really tried the mem yet) but by 621, which was the highest RivaTuner would put it for some reason, i was down to about 12300!
my GPU temps never went over 63C, which i dont think is too high, i've read much higher at least... but could it be my card is backing off b/c of temps?
i've got the latest drivers from EVGA and Asus running (tried OCg with old/stock 0402 mobo drivers too w/ same results)
