my friends have an offbrand PC with a 333C and i'm wondering if theres another CPU that i can just pop in there without any mods. What am i going to get into here, newer PC's i have no problems with but antiques i'm lost :)
Most older boards were able to run celerons up to 500mhz.

If it has an LX chipset, you may be able to run a PPGA C533 (not a FC-PGA C533A).

Well, I used to have one of those 333's a long time ago. I used a PII 450 in the same mobo. I know it could support up to a PIII 600 Katmai core processor. With a slotket (which I suppose would count as a modification, though not a very big or expensive one), you could run any PIII/Celeron Socket 370 processor.
