That's a great price! :)

Do all BluRay movies output 1080P/24hz? I'm using that setting on my HD DVD player and it looks fine, but not all 1080P TVs handle the 24Hz signal.

Just as a FYI, this is a profile 1.0 Blu-ray player so it doesn't support some features like BD Live and PiP (will be implemented on some discs special features). It seems the price on it has fallen to the $300 range just about everywhere. BB, Costco and Amazon are a few examples.

Why not buy a Ps3 for $450 instead a Blu-Ray Player 299.

Because I have a computer that plays all the games I care about. But as stated above, I am waiting on $100 BluRay players.

HD-DVD Standalone Players for under $200 :)

and 360 Add-on players for $130 -- less then half the price of this bluray player.

Yeah, $100-200 for HD-DVD and this is the cheapest price on a Blu-ray player to date.

Personally I think the PS3 is a much better deal than this standalone because you get a lot more value for relatively little more money, but with how inexpensive HD-DVD players are getting this is likely a sign that the Blu-ray camp has noticed and is starting to respond. If that assumption is correct then consumers win
