So im wandering which client i should download i have a dual core and a ati video card and i believe i can fold on that to correct me if im wrong. I download one client but my cpu usage is a 50% and im clueless on how to get 100% and fold on the gpu(if you can) so any help with be appreciated.

Welcome, Turtle Shell!
The graphics card folding client is a pain - I would strongly recommend avoiding it.
There is also a graphical folding client (not to be confused with the GPU folding client above), which is easy to use, just uses one processor, puts up some pretty graphics of molecules (not in real time though). Downside is it's hard to run it with any other folding client, (doesn't play well with others), it's a bit slow, and you get tired of the pretty molecules, pretty fast. (They're OK, but have no real connection to what you're folding, atm.
Your good choices are:
1) the console uni-processor client. It's very stable, installs as either a service running in the background, or as a regular foreground program. You'll want one client in one directory, and the second client in a second directory.
Each client will fold on a different core, automatically. Deadlines for finishing these work units is measured in weeks or months. You have plenty of time to finish them before their deadline.
2) the SMP client, which will just have one client, but automatically use both cores at once. (SMP stands for Shared Multi-Processor). It's not suitable for everyone, with it's short 3 or 4 day deadlines. That means your computer has to be free to fold 8 - 12 hours each day that you have a work unit to fold.
AND, you have to be connected to the internet all the time, if you're operating system is Windows (Linux is better at this, just now).
The big attraction with SMP folding is massively more science and points! :soda:
A console work unit (WU), might take 4 days to fold and earn about 300 points. In half that time, an SMP WU will finish, and earn you 1,200 - 1,760 points. :burn: :burn:
So, please tell us more about your system (especially cpu and memory), your internet connection, and about how many hours a day you plan on having your system folding.
And welcome to the team, and our forum, both! :santa2: :santa2:

Yeah I started out the same way. I was Folding on my own with that terrible graphical client. (It looks cool but Folds very slowly) Then I came here and these guys set me straight and that was about 5 years ago?? WOW

Turtle Shell, are you running Windows or Linux, and which version? Do you have a constant internet connection?

Since you have a dual core and a constant internet connection, your most productive folding would be with the WindowsXP SMP client. This is the new beta client, and it has "some issues", but overall, it's a winner.
If you read this post:
http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=505126
and these tips:
http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=537571
and the info from Stanford's download page (click on the blue question mark next to the client), and bookmark the install directions next to the SMP client for WindowsXP, as well, it will help.
You have to follow each step of the install process, just right. Starting with just reading it through, and then going back and actually doing it. Don't miss a step, though! We've all tried that from time to time, and it just doesn't fly, here - hey! This is science, and these programs are not the easy-breezy and slick game installs.
Let us know any questions or problems you're having. Almost surely, we'll need to see the program's output, if any, at least. Screenshots can be pasted right into the forum.

Will the e2140 stock make smp deadlines?

That's a great question. I did a little reading on the E2140, but of course, there's no specific test for folding speed, included.
My idea was to "Aim High" and if it works, great. If not, well we learned something for the next folder with that cpu. We can always help Turtle Shell set up another folding client (probably two uni-core clients).
He won't have to fold it for the full time, if it's too slow. Once we know the time per frame (per one percent completion), then we'll know his rig's status with SMP WU's.

Thanks so far again :bday:

Do you have the .NET framework installed yet?
You'll need an account set up with full admin privileges or rights, AND you'll need to be signed into that account, at the time you do the install.
So set up that account, sign into it, (should be no problem, now), and continue!
You're going to learn a bit doing this, you know that right? I believe every single folder has learned a little or a lot, about their system and it's OS, by working with Folding.
