Hey everyone, just found this out.

Divx is letting people download, and register a copy of Divx PRO for free, during this holiday season. Don't know how long it will last though.

Normally, it costs $20 for this program.

I'm downloading it right now, and going to register. If it goes through, and is still free apon me finishing the whole registration process, i'll update this post to let ya guys know.

should only take 10 - 15 minutes at max to get this fully done. ( hopefully, never know how long it takes some companies to send you verification E-mails though ).

Ok, just did it and it works. you install the bundle pack, then it will ask you for your E-mail address. They will then send you a serial key which will register it.

This code registers both Divx PRO, and the DivX Converter.

good find but I'm using staxrip with x264 for encodings which is open source. works pretty well.

They did the same thing last year. I've updated my version of DivX to the latest and it works just fine. So if you got a code last year it will still work.

What's special about Divx Pro vs the free one? Does it affect someone that doesn't encode, only watches videos with Divx?

Honestly...i have no clue. The registered version probably has more options, and extra features unlocked.

either way, Free is free. and i'm not going to turn down a free program, that normally costs 20 bucks.

Posted already but in the Applications and Software forum:http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=538790The serial numbers sent are not unique; "A3NI9M7P47B325A52C26" is used for the Windows version and "338BSZ759249T26B2M9E" for the Mac version.

Indeed, that is the Windows serial I got as well. So is this just a ploy to get your email address or what?

Yes. They did the same thing last year. Last year everybody got the same serial number.

It's free because x264 has higher quality with less disk usage for free! :P

Thanks for the post though.
