So I was really excited when I heard NIghts was coming to Wii...and then some beta screens got released and it looked like bunk...and it looked more or less like a remake of the first. but now that it's 4 days away from being released it looks like it might be a good title. They certainly tightened up the graphics, and supposedly it plays with just the thumb stick, so no poorly mapped waggle to ruin the simple controls the original had. I'll probably wait for some reviews but here's a video.

Rock on for a fellow Wii owner. I hadn't heard of this, but I'll have to check it out.

I'm still keeping my ear to the ground over it. I've never played the first one, so I honestly don't know what all the hype is about, but it does look like a good, solid title, even if it is being made by Sonic Team :p

The first one is a cult classic for the Saturn, one of it's best titles, very innovative. Yeah I know Sega isn't known for the best of games these days, but Oni I know your a Dreamcast fan, anything on the Dreamcast that started off with the Sonic Team opening was good. It could still turn out alright.

Well IGN gave this game a 6.5, so it looks like we won't be having a great game series revisit us from the past. The general complaint is it lacks an overall polish, good ideas but it feels rough and rushed. Why does that sound familiar? Oh yeah! thats the complaint on most Wii games, they have minimal effort put into them and are rushed to market on top of it. Wii's tidal wave of mediocre titles continues. Oh well I guess the bright side is Wii isn;t hurting my wallet, there's never any games I want for it.

Rating games low is the new black. If IGN gave it a 6.5, it's pro'lly closer to a real world 8.5.

I'll give it a rental this weekend and see how it really is.

I had the original on the Saturn. I must say: I didn't get it.

I bought it used... think it was some combo that came with the analog controller and everything... I flew around for a little bit... but I juuuust... didn't... get it.

This wasn't an isolated incident either. There were tons of games on the Saturn that I didn't understand. Even the Saturn version of Bubble Bobble was kinda weird. At some point all the games dropped to five bucks and I would just pick one up randomly for the hell of it.

I tried really hard to get into Nights since so many people were obsessed with it. Then again... I tried to get into Rayman, too. It just didn't take.

But Sega isn't well known for producing good remakes...

Yeah I bought my Saturn after Dreamcast was released for some cheap, good shooting and sprite based game play. I never "got" Nights...I mean story wise if it really was even telling one I wouldn't know...but I found the game play extremely fun.

As far as rating games low Oni...I would agree in the case of gamespots wii reviews... but I don't go to their site anymore....IGN isn't my favorite but they usually aren't too far off. If the negative comments are that the game feels unpolished and rushed...I'd believe it because as far as game development goes that seems to be the new black. I'd love to hear from anyone who's rented this.

I never got the Saturn one. I don't buy stuff from E-Bay and whenever I've seen it locally, it either doesn't have the 3D controller or the controller has been abused and is falling apart.
