I have a Soyo Dragon Plus motherboard which has rather good onboard audio. It has a daughter board which has optical inputs/outputs. At the moment Im using the optical output to my stereo for all my computer sound but have noticed that when a sound is played, the first second of it is cut off. It kinds like the computer plays the sound but it takes a second for it to get to the stereo and that second is lost....
Is this normal for optical connections? Would a soundblaster Audiguy Planium do the same thing using its opitcal connections?
Ideas?

What you have there is an audible illusion! Maybe change your batteries!
I have it happening on my C-Media sound card too altough I am not using the optical connections.
I think its something to do with the drivers of the sound card.

Sorry that was a lame joke, Did you flash your bios? Is the sound card sharing Irq's with anything else? Could most likely be the sc drivers, are you using win-xp?

I have the lastest bios for the Soyo Dragon Plus and yes Im using windows XP with the lastest C-media drivers.
Id also like to point out that this doesnt happen when I use analog connections.
I starting to get mad since I got the Dragon Plus for the optical connections, if I had known it was going to be like this I would have stayed with my Asus A7V133 and got a Audigy Plantium
