I am interested in upgrading from my 17" monitor. Looking at various 19" flat screens but I have come across something that concerns me a little. The flat screens I have been looking at have two lines, one near the top and one near the bottom. I was wondering if this is a common problem in this type of monitor. I have looked at Viewsonic, Nec and even Sony, noticing the same problem. Is this something I have to deal with if I purchase this type of monitor?
Not sure if you mean a lcd monitor or just a regular monitor with a flat screen.
If its a regular monitor with a flat screen then no, I have a 19 inch ibm g96 and have no extra lines at the top or bottom.

Generally, the aperture grill tubes will have these 2 wires. The shadow mask grills will not.

One option you could consider is a 17inch LCD screen. The KDS RAD-7 is highly rated, especially since its only 600 bucks. Equivilent to a 19" CTR, but really sharp, and its an LCD screen:)
600 bux for a 19" crt???? damn..i didn't know gucci made monitors...I guess i'll stick to the value priced "tommy hil" monitors, which only go for around 300 bux

As far as I know LG is the only company to date that makes a "true" flat monitor. Other companies have flat glass on front but the projection tube isn't 100% flat.
