View Full Version : What to do with EVGA...

First off let me tell you that EVGA's warranty is OUTSTANDING.

After a two MONTH dialogue with an EVGA representative, we finally just decided to RMA the card. Within five days they cross-shipped me the new card, at no charge due to the circumstances, and even had a prepaid UPS label for return shipping.

The problem is they sent me a carbon copy of the card that I already have that's been giving me the problems.

It seems that whatever pack of 8800GTS 640s (and possibly the 8800 series in general) that I and a few other people I've found over the internet have... does not work with Adobe Premiere Pro. I've now tried with both 2.0 and CS3... both to no avail.

They were SUPPOSED to send me an updated 8800GTS. Either the G92... or one of the SSC cards... or SOMETHING with a newer bios.

What they sent me was a card that is an exact duplicate of the card that I have. There is absolutely no difference between the two cards whatsoever. The bios dates are the same. The bios version is the same. The batch is the same. Everything except the serial number is the same.

So now I'm not quite sure what to do... I still have the same problem and now I have two of them.

Do I send back the new video card and tell them to send me something different? Or do I send them the old video card, ask for a refund on the new one, and use the money to buy one of the G92's?

Very puzzling...

(BTW... if you feel this post belongs in vendor discussion or general discussion or wherever... go ahead and move it.)

Well, Id call them up and inform them a mistake was made in the RMA and if they cannot clean it up that you want a refund to get another card through another company.

eVGA is pretty reasonable. Firstly, as you can see they even paid for shipping for you! Did you do the RMA conversations through email or over the phone? Make sure you do it over the phone and ask to speak to a manager this time round. I'm sure they will fix it for you.

I would suggest you call them and say the replacement doesn't work either. Ask if you could try either a card with a newer bios, or a different line of card. If a different card or bios doesn't work, you might end up selling the card and giving AMD a shot.

Otherwise contact Adobe see if they can help you out in anyway. If it is an issue with the 88 series of cards, im sure they are fully aware of the problem. Who knows, mabye adobe has a fix for it.

Yeah I noted all that in my post. The problem is... I've checked the calendar... and it's actually been FOUR MONTHS. I've been waiting extremely patiently for some type of patch or other solution... but noting doing. I've tried every beta that's come down the pike. NOTHING. I have yet to see anything officially even address the problem. This RMA was supposed to be a last-ditch effort... and even THAT didn't work.

Meanwhile my projects have been piling up. I think with four months it's more a question of ME being reasonable than them being reasonable.

That'll be a cold day in hell... ;)

I think the very first thing I did was contact adobe and they asked me to contact EVGA. I'm not sure if the EVGA guy has actually been helping me or just stringing me along. I've never gotten anything official, besides his emails, addressing the issue.

Well then id say you got both companies stumped! Got any friends PC's that you can put your video card in and see if it acts up?

It may just come down to AMD :D
